The study consists of material submitted to the 2004 writing competition on Student Life 2004, organised by the Finnish Youth Research Society and the Student Research Foundation Otus. The writers were either university or polytechnic students, or already graduated. The writings probed student life, welfare, services, study experiences, motivation, graduation, selecting a place of study, the spare time of students, and the importance of studies. The data consists of 81 writings with a total length of 220 pages.
