About Us : Finnish Social Science Data Archive
The Finnish Social Science Data Archive (FSD) is a national resource centre for social science research and teaching. FSD archives, promotes and disseminates digital research data for research, teaching and learning purposes. The archive is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and is a separate unit of the University of Tampere.
FSD promotes open access to research data, and the transparency, accumulation and efficient reuse of scientific research.
Functions
FSD's main functions are:
- data acquisition
- processing and preserving archived data
- providing metadata for archived data
- supervising use conditions set for data
- delivering data to users
- providing other information services related to data
- promoting data reuse
- promoting good practices in data collection and reuse
- supporting research methods teaching
- providing information on data archiving activities
- participating in international data archive collaboration
In additions to its main fuctions FSD:
- participates in developing data processing practices at national and international level
- organises and promotes social science research and teaching
- produces publications on relevant issues
- develops other relevant services
