CESSDA
Council of European Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA) is an umbrella organisation for social science data archives across Europe. Since the 1970s the members have worked together to improve access to data for researchers and students. CESSDA research and development projects and Expert Seminars enhance exchange of data and technologies among data organisations.
GESIS
GESIS - Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences is an institution devoted to research and service for the Social Sciences, which, by providing information, consultation, and data, supports and facilitates scientific work at every stage of the research process. Based upon extensive research programs GESIS provides services in data (archiving, provision, processing, research, social monitoring), methodology (consultation, developing complex methods), and specialized information (databases containing information on social science literature and research activities). ICPSR
The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), established in 1962, is an integral part of the infrastructure of social science research. ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction, and offers training in quantitative methods to facilitate effective data use. To ensure that data resources are available to future generations of scholars, ICPSR preserves data, migrating them to new storage media as changes in technology warrant. In addition, ICPSR provides user support to assist researchers in identifying relevant data for analysis and in conducting their research projects.
Open Data Foundation
The Open Data Foundation (ODaF) is a US based non-profit organization dedicated to the adoption of global metadata standards and the development of open-source solutions promoting the use of statistical data. ODaF focuses on improving data and metadata accessibility and overall quality in support of research, policy making, and transparency, in the fields of economics, finance, health care, education, labor, social science, technology, agriculture, development, and the environment.
UK Data Archive
The UK Data Archive (UKDA) is a centre of expertise in data acquisition, preservation, dissemination and promotion and is curator of the largest collection of digital data in the social sciences and humanities in the UK. Founded in 1967, it now houses several thousand datasets of interest to a wide range of researchers and provides resource discovery and support for secondary use of quantitative and qualitative data in research, learning and teaching. UKDA is a designated Place of Deposit by The National Archives allowing it to ingest and preserve public records. UKDA is based at the University of Essex in Colchester.

IASSIST/IFDO 2009 will be held in Tampere, the third largest city in Finland and the largest inland centre in the Nordic countries. Tampere (founded in 1779) is a dynamic centre of industry, research, education and culture - a prime example of a clean, modern and safe Nordic city. The city has two major universities, two polytechnics, a university hospital, numerous research centres and institutes of higher education, making the city an important centre for research and high-tech industries. The city has over 200.000 inhabitants. Tampere is located 180 kilometres (110 miles) north of the capital of Finland, Helsinki. The city is situated between two beautiful lakes and Tammerkoski rapids run through the city centre. Tampere is large enough to provide all the services that any conference may require, yet small enough to make the delegates and their families feel at home during their stay. The Old City Hall, venue of IASSIST welcome reception, was built in 1890 and completely renovated in 2003-2004.

The Finnish Social Science Data Archive (FSD) is a national resource centre for social science research and teaching. FSD archives, promotes and disseminates digital research data for research, teaching and learning purposes. The archive is funded by the Ministry of Education and is a separate unit of the University of Tampere. FSD promotes open access to research data, and the transparency, accumulation and efficient reuse of scientific research. The FSD was established in 1999, so we see IASSIST 2009 also as an opportunity to celebrate our 10th anniversary with colleagues and friends from all over the world!

The University of Tampere is a multidisciplinary scientific community with a special commitment to the critical scrutiny of social phenomena and the formation of civic society. Research include society, economy, administration and culture, likewise public health, well-being and education. Finnish Social Science Data Archive and University of Tampere are hosting the 35th annual conference of the International Association for Social Science Information Service & Technology (IASSIST) in collaboration with the International Federation of Data Organisations for the Social Science (IFDO).

The conference brings together over 250 professionals from around the world working with information technology and data services to support research and teaching in the social sciences. This is the first time the conference is held in Finland.

IASSIST members work in a variety of settings often serving as directors of libraries, national data archives, statistical agencies, research centers, academic departments, government departments and non-profit organizations. Many of the conference attendees control buying or influence purchasing decisions related to subscriptions, software and other data service delivery-related products.
